Book Review: The 1-Page Marketing Plan: Get New Customers, Make More Money, and Stand Out From the Crowd

Over a month ago, I was contacted to review a book. I am glad I did. I think that The 1-Page Marketing Plan: Get New Customers, Make More Money, And Stand out From The Crowd is a must have book for small business owners. Allan Dib has managed to bring together key marketing advice that seemed to be scattered across the countless books I had already read.

The 1-Page Marketing Plan is 227 pages long. Dib arranged the nine chapters in three major sections:

  • The Before Phase
  • The During Phase
  • The After Phase

Dib admitted that the ideas he shared are not new ideas. He brought together ideas from a number of resources that are familiar to anyone who reads about marketing. What he did do that is unique and powerful is shape them into a 1-page marketing plan. He arranged this one-page document to reflect the layout of the book.

The top part of the document focuses on the “before” phase. This is where one identifies the target market, the message, and the media. The center section is the “during” phase. In this phase, one develops the lead capture system, the lead nurturing system, and the sales conversion system. Finally, the bottom part of the document or the “after” phase stresses creating a world-class experience, increasing customer lifetime value, and developing a referral system.

In each chapter, Dib adequately addressed each element in sufficient detail. At the end of each chapter, he encouraged you to complete the appropriate element on the 1-page marketing plan.

As I work with small business owners, I will definitely recommend that they read The 1-Page Marketing Plan. This book outlines a systematic process for marketing a business. It cautions to not do everything but carry out a manageable plan. This will raise the game for all small businesses. I am glad I had the opportunity to read and review it. It will definitely stay within arms reach.
