If you are using LinkedIn’s free service, you may occasionally bump up against the “commercial use limit on search.” Well, at least, I have. I recently discovered that you can use Google search to help find the information you need. Let me show you what I mean:
With a free LinkedIn account, you can only get so many searches before you get a warning that you have “reached the commercial use limit on search.” Here is an example of what I mean:
Conduct a LinkedIn Search on Google
When I conduct a search in Google using my search parameters of an owner, Jamestown, and site:linkedin.com. I get a wonderful list of options such as
- Top 24 Independent Business Owner profiles in Jamestown
- Top 25 President / Owner profiles in Jamestown
- Top 25 Owner profiles at Jamestown
By clicking on one of the links, I am presented with a list of appropriate results. At the bottom of the list, you will typically see a link to See More.
This little hack will help you find listings for companies, jobs, as well as profiles. You just need to be creative with your search query.
A key element in your search query is the domain, e.g., site:linkedin.com. If you were looking for owners or directors in Jamestown, your search query would be
“owner OR director” Jamestown site:linkedin.com
If you were looking for jobs, you would type in jobs Jamestown site:linkedin.com
Happy hunting!
