Pat Flynn and Bryan Harris Talk About Growing Your Email List

There are many ways to get to a successful business. One of the ways is through hard knocks, basically figuring it out on your own. The other method is to leverage the knowledge and experiences of others; my personal favorite method. I try to learn as much as possible from others to take the quicker path. On my way home from Syracuse yesterday, I enjoyed listening to one of Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income podcasts, this one featuring Bryan Harris. Bryan Harris spoke about how to grow your email list and create products others will buy.

This is not the first time that I’ve heard Bryan Harris speak. Previously, I heard him present on Entrepreneurs on Fire. In both podcasts, Harris laid out a strategy for growing an email list, providing content to that email list, and using that email list to determine what products to create. This is a great strategy and one I am working on with my own newsletter.

So my strategy, which has been adopted and shaped by reading and listening to individuals like Bryan Harris, Seth Godin, and many others, including John Lee Dumas and Pat Flynn, is to grow an email list using my newsletter. Once I have pulled in enough people, I will ask the question, as Bryan Harris suggests, “where can I help you” and start providing content specifically to help address these pain points and help my followers succeed.

Bryan Harris also talks about additional strategies for growing your email list, such as reaching out to other successful people to leverage their audiences to help grow your audience. That was a great tip.
