Take Inventory of What You Can Post
(Last Updated On: )

The other day I was coaching an individual on how to use Twitter. Part of the discussion was about what she could and should post to promote her program. I recommended that she put together an inventory related to her program including services, events, key supporters, customer success, etc. These posts will help create awareness about your program of business.

Spend time and inventory what you have, and think about how it can be turned into a Tweet. Here are some ideas:

Events – If you are sponsoring an event such as an open house, you can start creating posts well ahead of schedule to promote the event. You can increase frequency as you get closer to the event.

Services – Do you offer different services? You can educate your followers about these services and how using them could improve their quality of life.

Products – Rather than directly hock your wares, consider showing how the products could improve their quality of life. Use images whenever possible to highlight functionality.

Reviews – Take time to highlight a new product for your business or perhaps be generous and promote someone else’s product.

Behind the scenes – Talk about and show what you are doing. Take time to talk about what you plan to do. Give behind the scenes glimpses of your company. Show the pride and care that goes into making your product.

Tips and Tricks – Share tips and tricks with supporters. If someone shares a tip on how to use your product, retweet it. People appreciate it when you recognize them for their cleverness.

Promotions – Offer exclusive promotions for your Twitter followers. Design a “retweet to win” message, and reward appropriately.

Take time to put together a swipe file of great ideas that others are using. Add your own ideas to this file to that you have an idea generator to reach into when putting together your communication plan.

Find someone who is really making a difference with Twitter and learn from them. Look at every moment as an opportunity to send out a Tweet.

What other ideas do you have for tweeting in support of your business?
