Ready to Start Your 2020 Reading Challenge?

Ready to Start Your 2020 Reading Challenge_
(Last Updated On: January 1, 2020)

Welcome to 2020! Not only is it time to set reading goals for the year, but I would like to challenge you to set a reading goal for the decade. As I noted in my book, Read to Succeed, reading goals will help you stay on track with your reading habit. I would like to encourage you to join me on a reading challenge or two for 2020.

I will continue to pursue two reading goals. One is focused on quantity and the other on quality.

My Quantity Goal

For my quantity goal, I have committed to reading 75 books in 2020. I have made my goal public by declaring it on Goodreads. This is going to be a stretch goal for me because I have been squeaking in with 60 books for the past two years. However, I am shooting for 750 books for the decade.

You do not have to sign up for 75 books if you haven’t done a lot of reading. You may want to start out with reading one book a month. You can always increase the number of books you read. The overall goal is to start reading more.

My Quality Goal

My quality goal challenges me to read more diversely. To do this, I have been signing up for the Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge. I have been doing this challenge for a number of years and have found it to be a great way to start to read outside of my normal interests. Anne provides a list of twelve books. Check out her 2020 reading challenge.

The Great Books

While I am still continuing my personal quest to read the Great Books of Western Civilization series. It has certainly been a challenge. I need to give it more of a priority. If you are interested in the Great Books, you can visit this site to see free editions.

Each month, I will share a list of books I am planning to read for the month. When I finish a book, I will write and share a review. Feel free to come and join me. I would love to hear about what you are reading. Enjoy the challenge! Good luck!
