By focusing on access, everyone in your class benefits. Individuals with disabilities benefit, mobile learners benefit, even those who are trying to learn in the margins of work, family, and play.

Most accommodation requests stem from poor course design. We can control this. We can increase access and inclusion through Universal Design for Learning.

In this episode, I am going to review the book Reach Everyone, Teach Everyone by Thomas Tobin and Kirsten Behling. The authors outlined three interconnected tasks they wanted to achieve.

  • Reframe how UDL is perceived.
  • Outline strategies for implementing UDL principles in courses.
  • Share strategies for implementing UDL across the campus.
