Trying to get my new book, Read to Succeed, in front of potential viewers has been a challenge. I have tried a number of things but my traffic seemed to be frozen. Here is what I did to thaw it out.
My Normal Web Traffic
My web traffic typically sits between 50 to 100 pageviews per day. In spite of what I tried, e.g., sending to my email list, additional posts on Twitter and Facebook, nothing seemed to help improve my page views. It was frozen.
Adding Book Promotions
I was looking on the internet for suggestions to help boost traffic to my book. One of the suggestions pointed me to Fiverr. Fiverr is a community of freelancers who will take on various tasks from graphic design to coding. One of the skills offered was promoting a book on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and blogs. I thought I would give it a try.
Here Are the Sites I Used
- Do Kindle Book Promotion
- Promote And Advertise Your Book Or Ebook On My Podcast And Social Network
- Promote Your Book In A Big Way
- Promote Your Book On 4 Book Blogs
- Promote Your Kindle Ebook Or Amazon Book
Fiverr made it extremely easy to use. I simply selected the service I wanted, provided payment, and submitted information the service requested. In a matter of a couple of days, the results started to come in.
From looking at the number of followers on each of these services, I was expected to reach over 95,000 Twitter and Facebook followers. That is certainly a larger audience than I have.
The Results of My Experiment
When I first looked at my page views I was in a panic. I thought I lost all my traffic and I was wondering what was going on.
Where my page views showed a nice band between 50 and 100 views, it suddenly looked like a line with a spike at the end of it. After further examination, that spike was near 3,000 and 2,100 views were specifically for my book landing page.
Over the next few days, my page views grew to a high of 11,000 views per day. This definitely skewed my normal daily traffic. As more and more services became available, the daily traffic kept increasing. So far, in the month of January, I have received nearly 30,000 views for my book landing page. It was 105 pageviews during the previous month.
My traffic is now returning to its normal level. Although, I expect to see some additional spikes as one service will be releasing twelve blog posts between 24 January and 11 February.
Next Steps
To capitalize on the number of page views, I have launched a Facebook ad campaign to retarget visitors to my landing page. I will be curious how this translates to book sales.
Promoting a book has been challenging. I was excited to see that trying these promotion services at least had an effect on my page traffic. If you are looking to thaw some frozen web traffic, you might want to consider using some of the services on Fiverr.
