Experimenting with Snip.ly
(Last Updated On: )

For the past week or so, I have been experimenting with a tool called Snip.ly. It is a tool that I think you will like. With Snip.ly, you can create a call-to-action overlay and add it to a site you want to share with others. Here is more information on how it works and what I have learned so far.

Snip.ly

Snip.ly has a wonderful video that explains how it works. I recommend that you watch it.

How Snip.ly? Works

Once you create an account, I recommend that you immediately add the Snip.ly tool to your browser toolbar. This will speed up what you do.

I recently applied Snip.ly to my home page and converted into a Snip.ly link (https://snip.ly/io7u0s). Here is how the page will look to anyone who clicks on the link.

In this particular call-to-action, I am asking viewers to join me on Facebook. Right now, I am only using one call to action. Here are the steps I take to create a Snip.ly call-to-action:

  1. Find a page you want to share and open it in your browser.
  2. Click on the Sniply tool in your browser’s toolbar.
  3. Complete the essential pieces to include a message, button text, and URL where you want visitors to go.
  4. Click on the Snip button.
  5. Copy the resulting URL.

With the Snip.ly URL, you can then post it on other social media platforms. Typically, I will post it on Post Planner. However, you can post it directly on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

Lessons Learned

  • Adding the Sniply button to your browser toolbar makes life much easier.
  • Not all sites will accept the Snip.ly overlay.
  • The dashboard provides good information about your calls-to-action. You can see the number of snips you created, how many pages have been accessed through the link, and how many have clicked on your call-to-action button.
  • The snip links dashboard shows the success of various snips.

I am just getting started with this experiment. So far, I have been impressed with the possibilities. In time, I will see how successful this experiment is. It is another way to get people back to your content. As I release more services, I will be creating different Snips pointing to those services. If you have multiple services, you can create calls-to-action for each of those products.

I am also impressed with Snip.ly as a company. They continuously send out great information to help understand and best use their product. I also had an enjoyable email exchange with the creator of Snip.ly.

Definitely, a tool I would recommend.
