#SMMW17: How to Build a Business with YouTube
(Last Updated On: February 5, 2022)

YouTube and video are powerful ways to gain exposure for your business. As I prepare to improve my YouTube channel, I attended a number of presentations on how to create YouTube presentations viewers like. Sunny Lenarduzzi puts together some great instructional videos. I not only enjoyed her Social Media Marketing World presentation but also gleaned a number of great tips.

Sunny noted the return on investment with videos is huge because people are always searching for answers to their problems. YouTube is the second most used search engine next to Google, and Google also owns YouTube.

Anyone can create a YouTube strategy. Sunny shared that one woman teaches hula hoop for beginners.

Sunny’s presentation focused on four points: research, write, publish, and promote.

Research

Start your video preparation with good research. Take time to get quality keywords to use in your titles, descriptions, and tags. As Sunny emphasized, “No one is looking for ‘weekly vlog’.”

When trying to find the right keywords, Sunny recommended looking at the following:

  • Google Keyword planner
  • Popular competitor videos
  • Trends
  • Frequently asked questions

Write

Sunny uses a set pattern when she scripts her videos:

  • Short intro to introduce herself.
  • Provide a teaser highlighting what the video is about.
  • Step-by-step details.
  • Include two calls to actions. One call to action encourages viewers to go to a website or sign up for an email list. The second call to action is to encourage viewers to like, subscribe, and comment on the video.

Publish

When getting ready to publish the video, Sunny offered a number of suggestions:

  • Use the title of the video as the names of video file name and the thumbnail file name.
  • Include the primary keyword in the title.
  • Use the primary keywords as well as secondary keywords in the description.
  • Customize the thumbnail image with the title of the video.
  • Include conversion URLs in the description.

Promote

Once you have uploaded your video, you then need to promote it. Basically, you are going to share the word about your video to everyone. Initially, it will be shared to channel subscribers. Sunny also encouraged sharing the video on social media, your blog, and your email list.

The key to building traffic is to create a video people want to see.

If you are interested in creating videos to support your business, let’s connect. I would love to help you create new opportunities on YouTube and other social media platforms.
