If you want to increase traffic to your content, you have to continuously put out fresh content. More importantly, you need to let people know where they can find your content. Basically, you should be linking to your social media resources from everywhere. Here are some ideas for improving your virtual presence:
Web Site
If you have a Web page, and you should, your Web page should include links to your social media sites in a prominent location. The more times you can interact with your customers, the more business you can possibly generate.
Personally, I believe the social media icons should be above the fold on your Web page. In other words, customers should not have to scroll down to find your links. Your social media links should also be on every page.
Email Signature Block
Every email you send in support of your business should include your email signature block. Your signature block should also include links to your social media sites. According to Jan Zimmerman, “An e-mail signature block is a powerful marketing tool which is the equivalent of a business card or letterhead.”
Here is an example of my signature block:
Here are some instructions I create for using HTML to build your signature block.
Messages and Newsletters
You should also include links to your social media sites on your digital and physical newsletters. Let subscribers know that you are also sharing information on your social media sites.
John Lee Dumas includes links to his social media sites on the bottom of his course messages. I think he does a great job at letting people know how to connect with him. Here is an example.
Not only does he link to the site but he also codes in a specific call to action. This article How to Create Social Sharing Links in Under 5 Minutes will show you how to create links with messages. Create your own call to action. Here is another site that will help you create these links.
Social Media Sites
Naturally, your social media sites should be integrated and connect with each other. Your Website should be the hub of your integration, however, you should be creating a web between all of your virtual resources.
Physical Business Location
If you have a physical business location that supports foot traffic, you should create signage that alerts customers to your social media and Web presence.
Are you doing everything you can to inform your clients about your virtual presence? Remember, your virtual presence is designed to let people know more about you and what you do. It is about developing a level of trust. By letting people know about your various social media sites, you are opening a door to a conversation.
As a wise person once told me, “It is about friend-raising before fund-raising.”
