In this episode, I am going to share what I have learned about movie talks. You are going to learn what they are and how to conduct one. They are especially suited for language instruction.
MovieTalks are a novel way to use video in the classroom. Essentially, instructors will pause a video at selected points to describe dialogue, scenes, and characters using language that is new to the students. Another way to conduct a MovieTalk is to have more advanced students described the movie elements.
MovieTalks are close cousins to book talks. I am sure you have seen a book talk. If you have ever watched a teacher read and describe a book to children, you have seen a book talk.
To take a MovieTalk to the next level, you can also create a book talk from the movie. In this episode, I will share how.
