When we talk about multiple means of representation, we are focusing on how individuals consume the content that you are providing in your classroom. If they can not perceive it or understand it, then your instruction is lost upon them. Because there is not one optimal way that everyone can consume your information, it is important that you provide options. Multimedia plays a key part because the common methods for consuming information are visual or auditory.
