Book Review: Genius Biographies
(Last Updated On: February 10, 2020)

This book was a very pleasant surprise. Four months ago, Ankesh Kothari asked me to read and possibly review his book, Genius Biographies*. I am glad I accepted the offer, I really enjoyed the book.

Genius Biographies is a compilation of 40 short stories of famous people. Each story is two to four pages long and focuses on only one segment of their life. At the end of the story, Kothari included an action summary, which consisted of 2-3 lessons learned or takeaways. I found these lessons to be very applicable and useful in my life.  Additionally, Kothari hinted at additional stories available through the supporting website. Unfortunately, the form on the page I went to was not working.

The entire book was 134 pages long and I was able to finish it in one sitting. The language was very relaxed and easy to read.

Before I read the book, I did not know which 40 famous people would be featured in the book. I am a fan of many of them. Here are is a short list of some of the stories that stood out to me:

  • Abraham Lincoln
  • Oprah Winfrey
  • Theodore Roosevelt
  • John D. Rockefeller
  • Louis CK
  • PT Barnum
  • Benjamin Franklin

Many of the stories shared were new to me. For this reason, I recommend Genius Biographies.  The stories were refreshing and the action summaries are beneficial.
